Abendlied-Morgenlied

Chant du soir - Chant du matin

Dusk, dawn … autumn, spring … death, life … nature and human passion … many of these themes, well known to romantics, are joined in this program of German music. With piano and a capella, the chamber choir les éléments presents one of the most beautiful chapters of German expressionism.

 

Throughout this program we discover some of the most beautiful quartets by Brahms, and pieces by Schumann and Wolf. This program highlights a large part of the music of Max Reger who, at the turn of the 20th century, displayed a great sensitivity inherited from the Romantic era using rich harmonies. In the same spirit, a few decades later, the songs and madrigals of Hindemith and Stockhausen perpetuate this musical style, closely related to poetry, which is so particular to the German repertoire.

 

At the end of the first half of the program, Joël Suhubiette and les éléments, always looking to include contemporary music compositions, present a work by Thierry Pécou, specially commissioned for this program.
